Todd Herrington & My Darling Fury @ The Camel 18+ Friday, November 8, 10 p.m.
The man that has to be considered the best and definitely the busiest bass player in Richmond is holding a record release party tonight. I’m talking about Mr. Bass himself, Todd Herrington. This man has been there, done that, and then some. Having played in the seminal Richmond band Modern Groove Syndicate, and currently playing bass for DJ Williams Projekt, Herrington keeps the rhythm going and always sets the evening’s tone. Coming from a jazz, funk, blues and jam background, this man is a true artist.
Tonight he’s bringing in a who’s who of Richmond’s musical elite he’s calling the “Things” band, in conjunction with the title of his new LP Things. Check out this lineup, it’s insane: Daniel Clarke on keys and vocals; Charles Arthur on lap-steel guitar; Andrew Rapisarda on guitar; Joel DeNunzio and Kelli Strawbridge on drums; JC Kuhl on sax; Reggie Pace on trombone, vocals, and percussion; Bob Miller on trumpet; Lydia Ooghe and Jonathan Meadows on vocals, and of course Herrington on bass, guitar, and vocals. Holy Broad Street! This evening is beyond miracles and could easily be considered a night of perfect sounds. Show of the Year candidate, I do declare.
Opening this beauty will be the high rising My Darling Fury. This indie band is also celebrating an LP release, so show up early. This show – which is no doubt a miracle – might sell out, so again arrive early. Besides, the Camel has tasty beer on tap, so it will be worth it. See you there!
